Ultra Energy was formed in 2002 and Kitty Hawk was formed in 2004. These are new companies relatively speaking but rest assured we have over 400 years combined expertise and knowledge finding oil and gas in the rich basins of South Louisiana.

Kitty Hawk's '2+2' Method

2004 was a pivotal time for Kitty Hawk. Newly formed we were offered the opportunity to provide geological and geophysical services for a medium sized independent exploration company in Houston. We generated prospects for them and several were drilled successfully at a completed well cost (CWC) of $28MM. Near the end of our contract a decision was made to monetize producing assets. Included in a $300MM asset sale $61MM in gross profit was attributable to our wells resulting in a ROI of 2.2: 1 in just two years. We called it the “2+2 method” for success.

Our core team combined has several centuries of industry experience and employs a proven program that fully incorporates all available technical data, land and unitization data, product marketing and sales, and management processes so we can mitigate risk and get our oil and gas to market quickly. It gives us the “Ultra Edge.”

Dave McCraine

Petroleum Engineer, Consultant

  • Drilling conventional and unconventional plays.
  • Completion, well plans, AFE’s (Authorization for Expenditure), horizontal drilling & planning, workover programs, and procedures.
  • Forecast cost estimates.
  • Experience in GOM (Gulf of Mexico), LA (Louisiana), TX (Texas), MaFla, Powder River, San Juan, Williston, California, Cook Inlet.
  • Worked for companies including Torch Energy Advisors, Transco, Gulf Oil, Swift Energy, and McCraine Consulting.

Guy Ellison, Sr.

  • B.S. in Geology, 1951, University of Missouri, School of Mines.
  • 61 years of experience as an Exploration/Production/Evaluation Geologist in Louisiana and Texas.
  • Worked for Sanolind Oil Co. (British Petroleum), DX Sunray (Sun Oil Co.), and has been independent since 1964.
  • Member of SIPES (Society of Independent Earth Scientists), the Lafayette Geological Society, and a Board Member of the Petroleum Club Lafayette.
